The Rodange works were founded in 1872 under the name Société Anonyme des Hauts-Fourneaux de Rodange.

In 1905 the Rodange mill became part of the Belgian steel company Ougrée-Marihaye.

In 1907 a steel mill and two rolling mills were added and the number of blast furnaces was increased to 5.

In 1936 the name was changed to S.A. Minière et Métallurgique de Rodange.

In 1970 a new OBM oxygen melt shop was built supplying steel to three rolling mills.

The Rodange site joins the Belgian steel company  Usine d’Athus and is renamed S.A. Métallurgique et Minière de Rodange- Athus.

1978, takeover by ARBED from Luxemburg and closure of all blast furnaces and the OBM mill one year later.

Shut down of the wire rolling mill in 1983.

The Aciéries Rodange-Schifflange are part of the ArcelorMittal group today.

Two rolling mills survived in Rodange:

Rolling mill A (modernized in 2007) produces sections like sheet pile for the construction industry.

Rolling mill C rolls (reinforced) bars.

Mill C is now temporarily closed and the sections mill is down to two shifts.
