Trinecke Zelezarny a.s. was founded by the archduke Karl von Habsburg in 1839. It is one of the oldest industrial enterprises in the Czech Republic. Today the steel mill in Trinec operates a coking plant with 140 coke ovens in two batteries. A sinter plant and two blast furnaces of the same size (hearth diameter 8,2 m). Steel production takes place in two 180 ton BOF-converters installed in 1983. At their Trinec works TRZ operates a blooming mill, several light to heavy sections rolling mills and a wire mill. |
